Acer Reimage

Acer re-image process

On return, check for a BIOS password (F2 to go to setup – Desktops maybe Del key)

If there is a BIOS password set and this cannot be recovered from the customer, then a recovery

Key (if you get the password wrong several times it will give you a code) can be sent to Acer to generate a unlock code ( Martin.Filtness@acer.com )

To re-image, the NAPPHDD external disk is used.

Connect the NAPPHDD and power on the device, press F2 to get into setup and apply factory defaults (F9)

Go to “main” menu and set F12 boot menu to “enabled”, then F10 to save & exit.

On reboot press F12 for boot menu, select HD710, this will boot in to the NAPPHDD

In “shipping OS” tab, select set RCD, then choose from drop down menu and select NAPPHDD_ISO, this will show a list of images (these are named by the Hamilton part codes)

Select the folder you require, and you will see folders RCD, SCD & LPCD.

Select RCD and double click on one of the images, it will put all the images into RCD.

Click on set SCD and navigate to the next folder using the up arrow in the window, double click on the image and it will apply.

Click on set LPCD and do as before!

Select “Deployment” tab

Pick “Auto Reboot” YES (bottom left)

Select “auto check following items” (top left)

A window will appear “autocheck completed” click ok

Click on the RED start button and yes to the “start deployment”

If there are any issues it will pop up a big “FAIL”

Assuming all is okay it will copy the RCD, SCD and LPCD to the disk and then reboot.

A “Restore progress” bar will appear and once completed it will reboot.

At this point you will see the image recovery working, it will maybe reboot several times, do not interact with it, (you will see the image restore progress at the bottom of the window 37/84 etc

This process is not quick, somewhere between 1 - 2 hours and only 1 device at a time!!!

Once completed it will reboot and you should be at the “OOBE” screen, power off.
